Kunjapuri Temple with Sunrise
About This Activity
Embark on the popular Kunjapuri Temple Sunrise Trek, reaching the sacred Shakti Peetha at 1,645 meters altitude. This moderate trek offers spectacular sunrise views over snow-capped Himalayan peaks including Swarga Rohini, Banderpunch, Chaukhamba, and Gangotri ranges. Kunjapuri Temple is one of the 52 Shakti Peethas where parts of Goddess Sati's body fell. The trek starts early morning (around 4-5 AM) with a jeep ride to the base, followed by a scenic hike through Garhwali villages and pine forests. Witness the golden sunrise illuminating the Himalayas, visit the temple for darshan, and trek down through beautiful landscapes, often stopping at Neer Garh Waterfall. The 12 km round trip takes 7-8 hours and offers panoramic 360-degree mountain views.
